The SMC team of 12 girls took part in a sporting event along side 23 other schools from around Nottingham. The event consisted of 4 events - Athletics, Urban Hockey, Handball and New Age Kurling! Every event allowed each team member to take part and try out the sport to the best of their ability. Each of the team received a certificate for taking part, in addition medals were given to the top 3 speed jumpers of the group, which was one of the athletics activities. Take a look at how they got on.
THE CLOSEST MATCH OF THE SEASON SO FAR!! What a close game it was! Both teams - SMC and Seely - had plenty of chances to score. However, it was SMC that managed to successfully take advantage of more of the chances than Seely. Some of the came in the form of penalties and Viktor was chosen to take them. He had no problems in putting them away. Well done Viktor! In fact we should say, "WELL DONE SMC! KEEP IT GOING!"
Children in Year 5 are focussing on developing their tennis skills. Today they've been practising backhand and forehand techniques of hitting the ball with control. It's not as easy as you may first think!
A great result from a hard-working team! After an unlucky start to the season, the squad have gelled together to form a competitive team. This match was full of excitement - penalties, goals, great saves, fabulous shots and team working! Every player deserves credit but the player of the match award went to Viktor for his superb skills and amazing goal. Keep it up team!
During the half-term there's an opportunity for children to join some world class hockey players. The event is based at Nottingham Hockey Centre and provides a fun, engaging and challenging camp for juniors of all abilities. Look at www.worldclass.hockey to find out more.

It will be another year full of healthy sport activities, including weekly PE lessons and after school clubs for Years 1 to 6. If you'd like your child to take part in one of the clubs, then don't forget to complete a form and return to your child's Class Teacher as soon as possible! Or if you'd like to know more about the different Clubs we have to offer then don't hesitate to speak to a member of staff! Great thanks goes to all the young children that took part in the KS1/F2 Sports Day! No wonder it was such a great success! Thanks also go to all the support given from the adults/parents/families that came to cheer their children on; plus the Year 5s who were fabulous guides and support to the younger children. Thankfully, the weather was on our side. Take a look at the challenges included in the event. Well done to the 10 representatives of SMC who took part in the Quad Athletics Tournament, held at Harvey Haddon Athletics Stadium on Tuesday 13 June. This involved 24 city schools in total out of which SMC came 14th - great effort! Each athlete had to try their best at the javelin, long jump, 50m sprint and 400m run. They were all awarded a certain amount of points depending on how they performed. Overall it was a great experience for all of them. |
