Due to our school receiving the Bronze award for tremendous achievement in P.E. and Sports provision, we were paid a visit by Kelsie Campbell, a person who performs at international level in swimming for her country Jamaica. Kelsie narrowly missed out on selection for the Rio Olympics and is competing at the World Swimming Championships later this year. Her aim was to offer a Sporting Inspiration Assembly and Workshop programme to explain how her own commitment helped her achieve her current status as an international swimmer from being a girl from Nottingham with an interest in the sport. The overall purpose of the visit was to inspire the children by giving them the confidence in making the most of their abilities. She started the assembly with a quiz - can you guess these sporting personalities?
The Infant Agility 'Jungle' Tournament involved children from many schools - or were they animals?14/4/2017 Children form Year 2 and some from Year 1 made up three teams of 10 who all took part in different team working activities. Here they all had to support each other as teams in order to complete the different challenges. Everyone really enjoyed the event which was organised by Nottingham Trent University alongside School Sports Nottingham. Could you complete these challenges? Thanks for the vouchers collected so far - please keep them coming in so that we can claim further resources to support your child's education here at St Margaret Clitherow.
If you are not sure where to put them just hand them to your class teacher who will put them into our big collection box. For more information about the project search by typing Sainsbury's active kids. THANKS AGAIN! Children in Years 3 and 4 have been developing dance routines using a selection of techniques. The music they've been using is of an Asian influence. Look at how they use different skills, such as balance, while aiming to dance as a group.
Monday's After-school Multi-sport club have been devising their own form of Basketball. Here they are putting their new rules to the test! The SMC team took part in a range of sports, including Kurling, Dodgeball and Relay races. They were competing against other City schools. All supported each other well as a team. Go SMC go! |
